A Roswell connection

Dr. Susan Reimbold has conducted clinical research for dry eye and glaucoma studies at Coastal Research Center in Roswell. She is a board-certified optometrist who has practiced in the Atlanta area since 1997. After earning her doctorate with honors at the Pennsylvania College of Optometry, she completed an ocular disease residency at the Baltimore VA Medical Center / Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute. Dr. Alisha Niswonger, OD, joined the practice in 2020; her graduate studies included dry eye, specialty lenses, ocular disease, pediatrics and primary care. Meet the doctors.

Hard-to-fit eyes and keratoconus

If glasses and soft contacts no longer give you sharp vision, the cause may be an irregular cornea. We take a corneal topography map at every patient's exam because keratoconus can now be treated, and finding it early matters. When crosslinking is an option, we can help you plan for it. For clear vision, we fit scleral, hybrid and rigid gas permeable lenses. Scleral lenses are rigid gas permeable lenses that are larger than most soft lenses, and many patients who have never worn contacts find them comfortable the first time they put them in. Specialty lenses can also help after a corneal transplant, with corneal scars, with high astigmatism and with severe dry eye. Roswell patients with an irregular cornea often come to us specifically for scleral lenses for keratoconus.

Roswell patients: see up close and far away without readers

If the road looks sharp but your phone and menus need readers, ask about multifocal contact lenses. They are designed to give you distance and near vision at the same time, so reading glasses can stay in the drawer for most of your day. Multifocal contact lens tips

Myopia care and DreamSculpt Ortho-K for Roswell kids

If your child’s glasses get stronger every year, ask about myopia control. DreamSculpt Ortho-K lenses are worn only overnight, so kids see clearly at school and on the field without glasses. Each custom lens is built from thousands of topography and ultrasound data points, which places the plus-power ring precisely and increases the chances of slowing myopia better. Our team was trained for three years by Dr. Jeffrey Jeruss, OD, FIAOMC, a world Ortho-K specialist and Custom Ortho-K educator. We also fit MiSight 1 day and NaturalVue soft lenses. Dry eye that keeps coming back

Burning, gritty, watery eyes or blur that clears when you blink can all be dry eye. Rather than just recommending another bottle of drops, we look for the cause. Testing can include staining of the eye's surface, infrared imaging of the meibomian glands, tear volume and quality, and inflammation markers. Treatment depends on the cause and can include lid hygiene, prescription drops, punctal plugs, gland expression and Blephadex, a procedure that cleans the lids and lashes. Learn about dry eye care.

Second opinions

If you have seen another doctor and still have questions, bring your records and a list of your symptoms. We image what we can, including retinal photos, OCT, OCT angiography (OCTA) and topography, go through every image with you and walk you through your options. Our highly trained staff know how to read OCT scans too. Our Alpharetta eye exam page describes every part of a visit.

We also care for glaucoma, diabetic eye health, children's vision and myopia control, including DreamSculpt Ortho-K in Roswell, custom overnight lenses designed from thousands of corneal topography and ultrasound data points rather than chosen from a standard fitting set.

How we take care of you

  • A real welcome. We connect with you starting at the door, and we want you comfortable and well informed about your eye health.
  • Pictures, not just words. Your doctor reviews each image from your exam with you and uses visuals to explain your results.
  • The same core scans every visit. Every exam includes a pressure check, corneal topography, fundus photos and an OCT of the optic nerve. OCT angiography (OCTA) is here too.
  • Staff who know OCT. Our team is trained to read OCT scans.
  • A prescription you can trust. Dr. Reimbold checks one step stronger and one step weaker, and both should look blurry. If you worry about giving the wrong answer, most patients tell us they didn't feel worried at all.
  • Glasses finished in-house. We edge every lens on site and triple-check each pair. Our opticians ask about your work and hobbies so your frames suit how you live.
  • Plain answers on cost. Imaging is a $39 yearly fee that insurance doesn't cover. We take all vision plans and most major medical plans (not Medicaid). Dilation is usually every 2 to 3 years, or more often when an eye condition calls for it.
