Why a Luxury Frame Deserves a Luxury Lens

High-definition custom lenses at Reimbold Eye Group in Alpharetta

At a glance: The frame is what people see, but the lens is what you see through. High-definition lens designs, precise digital measurements and custom finishing, such as fashion tints, faceting and laser engraving, are what make a luxury frame both beautiful and comfortable to wear.

The lens matters more than most people think

You can buy the most beautiful frame in the world and still be disappointed if the lens is wrong for it. A poorly chosen lens can make edges look thick, cause distortion at the sides, or leave the optical center a few millimeters away from where your eye actually looks. On a strong prescription, those few millimeters are the difference between crisp and "almost."

What we focus on

  • Digital measurements on your actual frame. Every frame sits differently. We measure how your chosen frame sits on your face, so the lenses are centered where your eyes are.
  • High-definition and progressive designs. Modern digital lenses give wider, clearer viewing zones. If you need help at several distances, ask about no-line progressives. See custom lens choices.
  • The right material for the frame. High-index lenses keep strong prescriptions thin in delicate metal frames, and the right lens shape keeps bold acetate frames looking balanced.
  • Coatings. Anti-reflective coatings let people see your eyes, not glare, and make the frame look its best in photos.

Custom finishing: make it yours

Reimbold Eye Group has an in-house tinting lab and an onsite laser for lens engraving, so we can finish lenses right here:

  • Fashion tints. Solid or gradient tints in a wide range of colors, from a soft everyday wash of color to a darker tint for a matching pair of sunglasses. Some patients need a therapeutic tint, and we have tints for activities such as shooting, running, fishing and golf.
  • Laser engraving. Initials, a logo or a small design engraved on the lens. My own glasses carry a small engraved lightning bolt, a nod to my nickname, Bolt.
  • Faceting and diamond cuts. Hand-cut facets along the lens edge catch the light like jewelry, especially on rimless frames.
  • Groove colors and embedded jewels. Color in the groove of a rimless or semi-rimless lens, or small jewels set into the lens.

Why buy lenses where you get your exam

When the same team does your exam, measurements and lens finishing, nothing gets lost in translation. If something doesn't feel right, we can check the prescription, the measurements and the fit in one visit.

Browse the brands we carry on our luxury eyewear page, or visit the boutique to try them on with an optician who can fit them to your face.

Frequently asked questions

Can you tint my existing lenses?

Many lenses can be tinted, but some materials and coatings can't. Bring them in and we'll check.

What can be engraved on a lens?

Initials, a logo or a small custom design. Our onsite laser engraves the lens surface.

Do faceted lenses affect my vision?

Facets are cut along the outer edge of the lens, away from your main line of sight.
